About Zinzi Bidi
Zinzi Bidi is a South African filmmaker, writer and emerging creative entrepreneur passionate about developing original African stories rooted in social realism, youth culture and emotionally driven storytelling. Since beginning her screenwriting journey in 2020, she has developed multiple original film and short drama concepts exploring themes such as campus life, betrayal, hustle culture, relationships, family dynamics, technology and contemporary African social experiences. Her storytelling reflects the realities of both rural and urban African life while resonating strongly with young digital audiences. Between 2022 and 2023, her short film project Don’t Blame the Word received development support and funding from the National Film and Video Foundation. In 2026, the project was shortlisted as a finalist at the Russian Film Festival South Africa.
